Dan Craig creates pictures redolent with culture, symbolism, and emotion. 
As a student at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, his eye was quickly drawn to the paintings of fifteenth century Flemish masters, like Jan van Eyck, Hans Memling, and Pieter Brueghel the Elder. Their marvelous attention to detail and dignified symbolic expression captured a timeless sense of reality. Craig has tried to reach this ideal world in his work.
His commissions range from HBO and The New York City Opera to on-and off-Broadway musicals. The New York Botanical Garden and the Minnesota Zoological Gardens have employed his skill along with Fortune 500 companies – including Morgan Stanley, ESPN, and The New York Stock Exchange. His art has graced the covers of magazines (The Atlantic Monthly and Der Spiegel) and books (War and Peace, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Treasure Island) alike.
Craig is the recipient of medals from The Society of Illustrators and two Clio Awards, and was featured in Communications Arts.
